It’s just been a little over a week using Bluehost to host my WordPress blog, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Bluehost has been really simple to use, and not as complicated as previously thought. The odd thing about using it is that it taught me a life lesson I should have been comfortable with a long time ago; you don’t have to do everything yourself.
I guess the fact that I deem myself as somewhat of a “programmer” or “developer“, I have always felt that I needed to do everything myself when it comes to technology. Like, I can do that, so I should. Such as I needed to build my own site with my own code, needed my own email server, my own authentication, my own yada yada yada. What I learned from just going with Bluehost and creating this blog is that you don’t have to reinvent the wheel – unless that’s what you want to do. Otherwise, there are other developers that have done all of it for you so you can focus on other things; like getting your blogs in. Maybe, at least for me, the developers can do it 10 times better than you can too; and you can always think of it as you are supporting them, if that makes you feel better.
For me, it has saved me so much time and effort to not have to do all those things. It sucks because I am sure I would have learned so much from doing it from scratch, but it is something I will have to give up; or I could just learn by reading it. Regardless, it was a good lesson on life for me.
